My husband came home from Afghanistan for only ten days mid-deployment, I decided to take him and out two daughters (age 7&2) as a surprise Father's Day gift. We couldn't be more excited, I stood in line for 40 minutes just to check in :-/ but there was a TON of people in line. The lodge is a bit dated but very clean. They gave us wristbands that double as a key to our room (room 1702 I believe) and we went down to the water park and had a BLAST, the arcade (the arcade is large and you can easily overspend in there) and then ten paw alley for bowling and wrapped it up with dinner on site. We originally ordered a pizza family meal with a large pizza, salad, breadsticks and a soda was included... It wasn't great so we ended up an hour later in the buffet restaurant. I will admit the massage I got was phenomenal! The desert shop with all types of chocolate treats and they even had dippin dots, delicious! My girls wanted to attend story time in the main lobby but the location plus the amount of people made it impossible to see or hear anything and we eventually just left before we got trampled by the visitors that were trying to check in. We were still having an awesome time until we arrived back at our room EXHAUSTED and wanted to crash so we could get up early and go at it again the next day. The free wi-fi was very slow as well. This is where things went horribly wrong for us. Apparently our room was located right next to an exit door, and a magic quest check point, all night long this door banged and banged and banged, I called down to guest services around 11pm because I was seriously about to loose my mind but I couldn't get anyone on the phone. The banging of this swinging door continued all night. We may have slept three hours total. Needless to say the next morning we were in no condition to go play, we just wanted to sleep. We called guest services who informed us that they knew about the door and it has happened before to guests in that room and we could pay $70 to extend our check out time a few hours (we had a 3 hour drive home) my husband was livid, they said they were aware of the door being a problem in the past however they would charge us to try and at least get a couple hours rest, due to lack of sleep from a problem that had already been brought to the attention of the staff and would be an easy fix by maybe putting a shock absorber on the door. We were both too tired to take the kids to play so, the last day there they didn't get to do anything. We spent $1300 total and wasted precious time with my husband that we won't get back and it left a pretty awful taste in my mouth for the future. On our way out we wanted to pick up some souvenirs for the kids and after two days of telling them to just wait, we promise to get your souvenir gifts on the way out... 30 mins of picking out gifts in the gift shop, we are informed we can't purchase our items because the credit card system is down. Fantastic. Had I known all of these unfortunate incidents would occur, our family would have just stayed home, then at least we wouldn't have a 3 hour car ride home as a sleepy, grumpy family. For the amount of money we spent, we should have gone elsewhere.
